The Jefferson Sustainable Development Initiative (JSDI) promotes a vision where citizens and communities work together to build socially just and vibrant economies, while enhancing the region's natural resources. Central to this vision is the need to expand a sense of regional identity, cultivate a commitment to sustainability, and inspire innovation, action and collaboration. JSDI works across the State of Jefferson, an area of southwest Oregon and northwest California known for its unique ecological heritage and citizen efforts to create an identity of place.
The objectives of JSDI are:
- To increase awareness among citizens of the region of our shared ecological, social and economic capital.
- To promote regional collaboration and action among diverse interests and across political boundaries.
- To build understanding of the range of alternatives for a sustainable future, highlighting current creative solutions.
- To foster innovative community generated initiatives that demonstrate sustainable land-use practices.
